Measure App

Privacy Policy

Last updated 8 September 2026

Measure App does not collect your personal data. It has no user accounts, no servers, and it makes no network requests of any kind. Nothing you measure, photograph or save ever leaves your device.

This policy explains that in full, including the few device features the app asks permission to use and what Apple handles on our behalf when you subscribe.

Note: a dedicated contact address for privacy enquiries is being set up and will be published in the “Contact us” section below shortly.

This policy applies to the Measure App iOS application (the “app”), published by Arron Mecwan (“we”, “us”). It describes how the app handles information. By using the app you agree to this policy.

The short version

We have deliberately built the app so that there is almost nothing to write a privacy policy about:

Device features the app asks to use

iOS will ask your permission the first time each of these is needed. You can change your mind at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security or in the app's own entry in the iOS Settings app. Declining a permission disables only the feature that needs it.

Camera

Used by the augmented-reality tools to measure distance, height and area, and to produce floor plans. Camera frames are processed live on your device by Apple's ARKit framework so the app can recognise surfaces and track points in space. The app does not record, save or transmit the camera feed. Frames are discarded as they are processed. The only images kept are photographs you explicitly choose to save.

Motion and orientation sensors

Used by the bubble level and inclinometer, and to keep AR measurements stable as you move. Readings are used in the moment to compute an angle and are not recorded or transmitted. Your level calibration offsets are stored on the device as three numbers.

Photo library

The app requests add-only access, which lets it save a measurement photo or an exported report to your library when you ask it to. This level of access does not allow the app to read, browse or import your existing photos, and it does not.

What the app stores on your device

All of the following is written to local storage on your device, inside the app's own private container. None of it is transmitted anywhere:

Deleting the app removes all of it. Because none of this data reaches us, we cannot retrieve it for you afterwards — please export anything you want to keep before deleting the app.

Subscriptions and payment

Measure Pro subscriptions are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Your payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see, receive or store your card number, billing address or any other payment detail.

The app asks Apple's StoreKit framework, on your device, whether you currently hold a valid subscription, and unlocks accordingly. Apple provides us with aggregate, anonymised sales and subscription reports that do not identify individual customers.

Apple's own handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not this one.

Information we do not collect

For the avoidance of doubt, the app does not collect, and we do not receive, any of the following: your name, email address, phone number, postal address, date of birth, location or GPS coordinates, contacts, IP address, device advertising identifier, usage or behavioural analytics, crash telemetry, diagnostic logs, or any biometric data.

We do not sell, rent, share or trade personal information, because we do not have any. We do not engage in cross-app tracking and the app does not present the App Tracking Transparency prompt, as there is nothing to track.

Children

The app is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no personal information is collected from any user, none is collected from children.

Your rights

Privacy laws including the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Canada's PIPEDA and Australia's Privacy Act give you rights over personal information a company holds about you — typically to access it, correct it, delete it, restrict its use, port it elsewhere, or object to its processing.

Those rights are fully available to you. In practice there is nothing for us to act on: we hold no personal information about you, so there is no file to disclose, correct, export or erase, and no processing to object to. You remain in complete control of the data on your own device, which you can delete at any time by deleting the app.

If you believe we hold information about you, please contact us using the details below and we will respond. Users in the EEA and the UK also have the right to lodge a complaint with their national data protection authority.

International use

The app is operated from the United States and is available worldwide. Because the app transmits no data, using it does not involve any international transfer of your personal information.

Security

Data stored by the app is protected by the security of your device, including iOS app sandboxing and, where you have enabled a passcode, Apple's file encryption. Keeping your device updated and passcode-protected is the most effective way to protect what the app stores. Because nothing is transmitted or held on a server, the app is not exposed to the risk of a server-side data breach.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the app changes — for example, if a future version adds a feature that needs data we do not currently use. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected in the app before the feature ships. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
